If interested in intercountry adoptions - April 2012- A new Global Trends and Intercountry Adoption 2001-2010 study was released by National Council for Adoption. The trend is less overseas adoptions, in part by policy changes by Russia. Look in links section.

- There are over 100,000 U.S. children waiting to be adopted.
- Of the waiting children, approximately 20% were 2 years old or younger.
- There are children of all races waiting to be adopted. The distribution of waiting children in 2010 was: White 39% 42,059; Black 29% 30,812; Hispanic (of any race) 22% 23,389; Alaska Native/American Indian 2% 1,80; 0% 464; Two or more races 6% 6,771; Unknown Race: 1% 1,457
- You can adopt outside your state.
- The maximum adoption tax credit per child is over $13K
